Tyller and the Trail Hands

Colorado and Texas Singer/Songwriter Tyller Gummersall grew up working on ranches and playing Dancehalls in the Rocky Mountains.
A skilled and soulful guitar player, Ty has been mentored since the age of 8 by Gary Cook (2 time national flat pick champion and Bar D Wrangler).

And when it comes to Songwriting he’s been taken underwing by the likes of Tony Arata and Jim Lauderdale, legends who have written hits for Garth Brooks and George Strait.
This has helped him add to the tradition of great country music while also trying to carry it forward.

Teaming up with his band of top Texas musicians, the Trail Hands being a mix of heartfelt and danceable Country music. They perform songs they love from artists like Buck Owens, Hank Williams Sr. and Merle Haggard along with Tyller’s originals in the same traditional style

Naked And Hungry

Where would we be without Agriculture? Naked and Hungry!

It was an honor to perform at the fine Steamboat Springs, CO Community Ag Alliance “Ag Week”.

The Multi-generational  Allen and Daugenbaugh ranch families hosted me and our friends at Alpine Bank sponsored  the trip. The Community Ag Alliance is exceptional in terms of organizing Ranchers, Nature Conservancy, and Governmental Agencies in preservation of Agriculture and open space in the Steamboat area.

I was also happy to perform for elderly folks at Casey’s Pond and Routt County Council on Aging “March For Meals” event.

The Steamboat Art Museum was in incredible setting to play some songs!

Check out www.communityagalliance.org – The Community Agriculture Alliance in Steamboat Springs is an agricultural resource focusing on local food. We lead community, grow agriculture, and create alliance.

Also, I sure had fun spending the day at my friend’s ranch on the lower Elk River! I don’t get to do near enough fence fixing or cow chasing, so it’s always a treat to lend a hand. It’s especially fun when it’s such a great ranch and outfit! So a big thanks to the Daughenbaugh and Allen families.

Opening For Jim Lauderdale

Wow, it’s not often that you get to open for one of your heroes. And even rarer, that hero makes sure he’s there to watch your set! I’ve been a pretty lucky guy lately, getting to perform for folks all across Colorado and open for some amazing musicians.
But my hometown show last Thursday opening for Jim Lauderdale was a highlight to be sure!

Jim’s songs have been recored by Artists such as: Gary Allan, Tab Benoit, Solomon Burke, Shawn Camp, Mark Chesnutt, The Derailers, The Dixie Chicks, Vince Gill, Jack Ingram, Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, Buddy Miller, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Blake Shelton, George Strait (14 times over), Sunny Sweeney, Lucinda Williams, Lee Ann Womack and more.

Jim has recored at least 22 studio albums as an artist himself, all of which are stellar! And he’s participated on many others including an amazing album that earned a Grammy where he collaborated with Dr. Ralph Stanley.

So, he’s obviously an accomplished musician and songwriter. But, he’s also a really great human being! He made a point of popping his head in the green room before I went on stage and wished me good luck. In all the openings I’ve had no one has ever done that. And it meant a lot to me!
He had kind words for me once I got off stage and he even had kind words for me during his own set. And man did he play an amazing set!
Song after Song after Song, all written great all performed with soul and authenticity…

So, thank’s Jim! I’m happy to see that the “Good Guy” can make it.

Below are some photos and a little video from the show!

Colorado Road Adventures

We’ve been having a blast out here on the road! It’s been such an honor opening for some of my favorite musicians and playing for great Country crowds!

Below are some photos and video of clips from our recent Adventure Travels:

It began with Ty playing music at our National Forrest campground outside of Salida with long time friend Mike Rosso. Nearly 20 years ago Ty sat around a campfire trying to play guitar and sing with Mike playing good mando. Soon there after Mike moved to Salida and began publishing his interesting Colorado Central Magazine. So, nearly 20 years later Mike was able to play good music at our camp with the young guy that he encouraged so many years ago….

Longtime Garfield County Commissioner friend John Wyatt Martin and his wife Nancy treated us like “kings” with our “All Access Lanyards”. And we especially appreciated them for staying to listen to the band instead of rushing off to the Josh Turner Meet & Greet. John has been the driving force behind all of the successful years of great upgrades at the Fair Grounds that have turned it from and “eyesore” to a beautiful “state of the art” fair ground facility. Councilman Martin also served in the Sheriffs Department for years and he’s still getting bucked off his horses while “Keeping It Western”!  Commissioner Martin, Greg, Artist Nancy Martin above L to R:

This years headliner James Otto did a good job. Organizer Lynett Harold did a fantastic job of making the Band and their families feel very welcome. We had fun friends in from Durango and our special Alpine Bank Ladies Beth Drum and Allison Nadel were there to support us all…hats off to Alpine Bank sponsoring the Band to play at the Corn Festival as well as being major sponsors at the Garfield County Fair. Our great Cedaredge friends the Coopers and the Dills even danced on the stage so as to “Keep It Western”…surprisingly good dancers! What a great time in our RV “Green Room” with all of the great sweet corn we could eat!

Next, we were amazed daily by the beauty and hospitality of our Rancher friends the Daughenbaughs, their 5th generation rancher Daughter Adonna and Son-In-Law Troy Allen annnnd their special young super cute and hard working cowboy grandson and granddaughter at their Rocking C Bar Ranch along the Elk River in the beautiful Steamboat Springs Elk River Valley. They are certainly shining examples of hard working good folks “Keeping It Western”. We even got to do a little fence repair and load some cattle! Doc & Ty are up on their Elk Mountain fixing a little fence in the summer pasture.

_0006
While in Steamboat our friends Ollie Ballard and Nancy Jeffrey hosted a fine Ty House Concert at the special home that Nancy designed for Ollie some 10 years ago…great high ceilings created great acoustics along with super folks from the Strings Festival and the historic Chief Theater in attendance. We are looking forward to some great Ty Band events next Spring and Summer in the Steamboat area.

It is always great to have informed appreciative listeners at the more intimate House Concerts.

Next, we were back at Beaver Creek Resort for Ty & the Band to perform for 2 nights. Below many of the 500+ folks that were attending the Grand Tasting were moved to dance and have fun with the Band. We met many new fans mostly folks from Texas and that suited us just fine! We also got invited again to an amazing Sonoma Winery that would make a Northern California Tour very worthwhile!  The band much enjoyed being the guests of the very comfortable Charter Hotel and all had a good time.

Next back to Durango for the honor of opening for the great Jim Lauderdale on the 18th.  If you’ve listened much to Outlaw Country on SiriusXM Radio, then you’ve enjoyed the Jim & Buddy show.

Ty and band play to 1,200 people opening for Cole Swindell

Wow, what an awesome crowd last night at the Farmington, NM Civic Center! It was a sold out show, close to 1200 people, thanks to everyone who came out! Big thanks to Lisa, Russel, James and the whole Civic Center crew. They’re a first class operation. Also, big thanks to Cole Swindell and his crew! What an awesome group of people! Last but certainly not least, many thanks to my very cool band – Ted, Dan, Kate and Hannah! I had so much fun and y’all sounded awesome, I’m so proud to share the stage with you!
